You probably didn't know this!

Chiropractic works on feet!!! I love to help people with foot, ankle, and leg pain and dysfunction. The average decrease in bunion pain after 6 chiropractic visits is 74%! (Clinical Chiropractic, 2005) Can you believe it! If you've ever had foot pain then you know that's amazing! Most people shuffle around looking at fancy foot braces or trying cortisone shots without treating the true causes of their pain. I get into the 26 bones of the foot and move each joint and stretch and relax the muscles and fascia to create happy, dancing feet.
Proper shoes help sustain your new-found happy feet. Look for these characteristics in a good shoe:
  1. A wide toe box or square toe with enough room for all 5 toes.
  2. Arch support and a cushioned insert for bounce and shock absorption. No cardboard flat bottoms or flip flops.
  3. A heel cup wraps around and helps stabilize your ankle preventing falls and foot degeneration.
  4. A strap that goes over your midfoot or a fully laced shoe to keep your foot in and decrease strain on the toes and metatarsal pad.

Most insurances cover chiropractic care for the whole body including your tootsies so that you can live pain free, happy and healthy! Call today to schedule with Dr. Kuty and next time you see your friends rubbing their feet or limping around, tell them, you know the secrets to happy feet!

A FATTER United States! ...FREE giveaway!

Can you believe that in 1991 NO state had an obesity rate of over 20% but now ONLY ONE state is under 20%!?! (can you guess which one?...keep reading) Six states had obesity rates over 30% (who did the worst?)! An average of 26.1% of American adults are obese! Not one single state lowered its obesity percentage! I think it's time we fought back. We have to change our thinking about how we live. We need to energize our lives with movement, nutrition, water, and a healthy emotional balance!

Remember a few key points:
1) Act now! Motivation later!
I just read a funny article where the gentleman said he was doing his yoga preparation... for 2 months! Just act, you'll feel better when you're done.
2) Health is not destination.
Being healthy is an everyday choice. Did you get adjusted today? Did you exercise? Did you encourage and motivate others? Did you drink water? Did you take your Biotics ProMulti vitamin-mineral complex? Did you eat healthy? etc. Everyday you should re-commit to YOURSELF!
3) We're here to help! Call and schedule a nutritional appointment to set your action plan in motion! 480-945-7800! AND- if you're a good candidate for our meal replacement Take Shape for Life Program, we'll give you up to 2 weeks totally FREE! Act now and find out more.

Childhood obesity has tripled since 1980. Include your children, friends, and family in your health revolution. Encourage them, challenge them, build a team! Did you know there are more people with obesity than people with hunger in Africa?

Try this healthy new recipe from Jessica Seinfeld's cookbook Deceptively Delicious.
Tofu Nuggets:
cut up extra firm tofu into cubes and dip them into a puree of 2 bunches of washed, de-stemmed, wilted spinach combined with one beaten egg. Then dip them into one cup panko mixed with flaxmeal (I used about 3 tsbps), 2 tbsp parmasean cheese, and paprika (I used ~1/2 tsp). Cook them in a pan at med-high in 1 tbsp of olive oil until they are brown on all 4 sides. They are delicious! And, her book has some other very interesting, heathy recipes.

State with the lowest obesity: Colorado 18.9%
State with the highest obesity: Mississippi 32.5%
27th: Arizona 24.8%

Low Vitamin D has been linked to heart disease, high blood pressure, most cancers, diabetes, multiple sclerosis, autism, osteoporosis, autoimmune diseases, and frequent infections, cold and flu. Low Vit D3 also promotes the expression of chronic pain, bone pain, joint and muscle pain, and fibromyalgia. D3 can be supplemented without increased risk of skin cancer with as little as one drop under the tongue a day. A 6 month supply is less than $20 at Kuty Chiropractic! Give your body a little internal sunshine, stop by at pick up some D3!

Bone Marrow Registry this Sunday!

Bone Marrow Drive this SUNDAY!
Dear Friends,
This SUNDAY, April 19th, is a real opportunity to help save someone's life. This Sunday there is a free bone marrow drive. Larry Hirsch, marrow recipient and survivor and Rabbi Kahn 2 time donor with both be there to support the drive and answer questions. To be registered in the directory, all you have to do is have a swab of the mouth. You must be between 18-60 years old, in good health, and be willing to donate bone marrow if you are selected for a person in need. Most recipients are cancer patients and many are children. This sponsored event is free, however funding is limited and it costs $52 to be added to the registry; they ask you consider making a $25 tax deductible donation to "The Marrow Foundation" to offset costs. You can learn more at marrow.org.

The drive is at Congregation Beth Israel, on the corner of 56th Street and Shea Blvd. (10460 N. 56th St, 85253) from 9am-12pm, Sunday, April 19th.

I am on the registry and my mother is a cancer survivor.
Sincerely,

Eat much Mercury today?

Kuty Chiropractic
1. E-NEWS ALERT: Mercury contamination!
2. Sleep Better Naturally Lecture
3. A Quiz: "Which is Safe?"

1. MERCURY in food!
A new report by the nonprofit Institute for Agriculture and Trade policy shows that some food with high fructose corn syrup contains mercury. There was detectable mercury in 17 of the 55 sampled foods, 31%. These were common items at your grocery- Quaker Oatmeal to Go bars, Jack Daniel's Barbecue Sauce, Hershey's Chocolate Syrup, Nutri-Grain Strawberry Cereal Bars, Manwich Gold Sloppy Joe, Hunt's Tomato Ketchup, Smucker's Strawberry Jelly, Yoplait Strawberry Yogurt, and the list goes on.

The report doesn't prove the mercury came from the high fructose corn syrup but that's most likely. Mercury can be used to make caustic soda, used to made the high fructose corn syrup. The Corn Refiners Association says that's outdated technology and the study researcher, Wallinga, says 90% of U.S. made is mercury free but, "the problem is that we don't actually know where our companies are buying their high fructose corn syrup from... it's a global industry."

At Kuty Chiropractic we recommend to decrease all packaged foods and eat naturally. There's no high fructose corn syrup in oranges!

3. Eating Fresh- Recipe

Going by what's on sale in the produce section is a fast way to figure out what's in season. Try this seasonal recipe from my kitchen for Mexican Soup. (serves about 6 hefty bowls).
28oz can of unsalted undrained diced tomatoes
1 cup water
2 cups chicken broth
2 cups beef broth
one large chopped onion
add all to a pot
then throw whatever you've got in a blender... 16 oz undrained diced tomato with your choice of green onion, cucumber, broccoli, mushroom, celery, carrots, peppers, lettuce (whatever is in the veggie drawer). Add in a little broth from the pot to give enough fluid to blend. Also add in some spice depending on your heat tolerance (jalapeno pepper, chili sauce, Tabasco, cayenne pepper). This makes a homemade "V8"

Bring to a boil then simmer for 10 minutes

MEANWHILE dice 2-3 chicken breasts and cook them (I throw them in a fry pan on the stove at medium high heat). Once done throw in the pot.

To the pot add:
One each diced Mexican squash, yellow squash and zucchini (all are the same shape, same spot in the store, different colors. You can use all the same if you like.)
8 oz frozen corn
1 tsp chili powder
1 tsp cumin
1/2 tsp black pepper
then boil and simmer another 10 minutes
YUMMY! Serve with shredded cheese, cilantro, and avocado on top.
Very easy actually, very nutritious, and delicious!
